Diode Laser vs. IPL for Hair Removal: What’s the deal?
Diode lasers and IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) are both used in cosmetic treatments, but they differ in technology, effectiveness, and applications. Both are used for cosmetic treatments, but there are key differences in their mechanisms and the types of skin treatments they offer. Let’s look at the difference between the two.
Diode lasers emit a single, focused wavelength absorbed by melanin in hair follicles, generating heat to permanently damage them. They are highly effective for hair removal and pigment lesions, suitable for all skin types, and generally provide more comfort and fewer side effects due to built in cooling systems.
IPL uses a broad spectrum of light (wavelengths) scattering energy across the skin, which reduces its effectiveness for hair removal. It requires longer nad more frequent sessions is more suitable for lighter skin types. IPL also treats a wide range of skin issues, including pigmentation, redness, and texture irregulatiries.
In short, diode lasers are more efficient, precise, and better for permanent hair and pigment removal. IPL is more versatile for multiple skin treatments but less effective for specifically hair removal.
